Hello,

I’m an instructional designer and virtual school leader who is currently based in Duluth, MN. I am passionate about making quality online education accessible to all learners.

I grew up in Oregon, but always knew that I wanted to explore more of the country. When I graduated high school, I moved to Washington D.C. to earn a degree in Latin American and Hemispheric Studies at The George Washington University. After spending a summer teaching at Cesar Chavez’s National Farmworkers Service Center in Somerton, Arizona, I fell in love with education. I began my career as a high school Special Education reading teacher in Arizona with Teacher for America while earning my M.A. in Special Education at Arizona State University. I then taught 5th grade Humanities for three years and was then given the opportunity to found a charter high school in Phoenix. My experience building a school from the ground up was an incredible experience and through it, I saw the power of both online learning and self-paced instruction. In 2018, I moved to Washington D.C. to teach 9th grade World History. During the pandemic, I saw that many of my students were successful with the shift to online learning and I had the passion and skills to create clear, relevant, and engaging instructional materials. I currently am the Associate Director of a virtual school and I create online English Language Arts courses for students in grades 5-8. I believe that online learning is an excellent way to meet students’ individual learning needs and personal interests. This portfolio will showcase my work as an instructional designer and content creator along with my knowledge of learning theories and course design.
